Small Groups
The Biblical basis for Small Groups is tied to the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Jesus made disciples; He committed His life to a small group of 12 men for 3 1/2 years. Then, after rising from the dead He told them in John 20:21. “…As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” Jesus commissioned His group to make disciples in the same way that He had modeled. How did He do this?
Jesus cared for them, He taught them, He spent time with them He prayed for them, fellowshipped with them. The disciples in turn grew closer to God and each other. We believe that when individual worshippers at MRCCC become part of an Small Group, then they too will experience the love and life changes Jesus intends for every believer.
Not only did Jesus model a Small Group, but the early church did as well. The early church met both corporately and in small groups. Acts 2:46 says, “Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts [corporate]. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts [small group ].” A few verses before, God tells us what those house to house gatherings were all about. Acts 2:42 says, “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” They taught each other, they fellowshipped together, they ate together, and they prayed together. Sounds pretty simple doesn’t it? And God blessed them as they modeled the ministry of Christ! Acts 2:43 says, “Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.”
God always blesses when we follow His Son. And He will bless our Small Groups as we seek with humble hearts to make disciples as Jesus modeled and commanded.

Our Vision Statement!
"Called out! Called Together!”
When you ask someone if they go to church, how do you think they interpret your question? Most people think of a building where people gather for a good nap! But the word for church in the Bible means “CALLED OUT ONES”. The church is made up of those who have heard God’s call in the gospel of Christ. They answered His call to surrender their lives to Him. They become God’s ‘called out ones’.
God likens His work in their souls to a brand new beginning. Jesus called it a new birth experience, being ‘born again’, or ‘born of His Spirit’, in Johns 3:3. So the called are born of God by His Spirit and become a very special family of brothers and sisters in Christ with God as Father and Christ as brother. The Bible then goes on to command how God’s family should relate, both with God and with one another. Out vision statement is that the called would live out that very satisfying and restoring relationship within the family.
